Magnitude 7 earthquake strikes off Japan

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Saturday off the coast of southwest Japan, triggering a small tsunami. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The earthquake struck at 5:51 a.m. at a depth of 6 miles southwest of Kagoshima city. A one-foot tsunami was recorded on Nakanoshima, Japan's southernmost main island.
